Desktop Cop is designed with an enterprise server, a web-based operator interface, and agents installed on individual workstations. Desktop Cop’s intelligent surveillance system detects, manages, and prevents information leakage from multiple communication activities including, applications, USB devices, CD/DVD writing, printing devices, instant messaging, email, web browsing, web mail, and other file services.
Desktop Cop forces automatic enforcement of policies and regulations to enable compliance and reduce the risk of legal penalties and image damage resulting from violations. The agent software runs silently on workstations, interpreting and enforcing policy rules administered from the server. The server utilizes a web-based dashboard through which all activities are monitored, blocked, or protected based on your organizational policies and auditing practices.
Desktop Cop is comprised of an Administrative Module, Event Server, and Client.
- Web-based Administrative Module - allows the definition of activities that are monitored, stopped, or protected based on organizational policies
- Event Server - watches for defined events and stops and/or notifies security officers of critical activities
- Client - runs silently on workstations, interpreting and enforcing policy rules from the Event Server
